Entries

1. Neither the Judges nor their employees are eligible to compete in any of the classes.

2. All entries must be made upon the printed entry form and no exhibit will be admitted for competition unless such entry form has been properly completed and signed so as to reach the Show Secretary, National Cherry & Soft Fruit Show, Hope Farm, West Brabourne. Ashford. Kent.TN25 5NB on or before Monday 2nd July 2018.

Packing

3. All competitors will be supplied by the Secretary with identification labels which must be clearly attached to the packages.(ON 4LB CHIPS LABELS MUST BE DISPLAYED ON THE HANDLE)

4. In all classes the names of the exhibitor must not appear on the package, with the exception of the Market Pack. Supermarket Pack to be displayed with name of grower and variety on lid. Fruit to be displayed with the lid placed under the punnet to remove identification during judging. In the case of a film lid the name of grower and variety should be on the base of the punnet.

5. All exhibits must be packed in the standard packages supplied by the Committee, free of charge, with the exception of the Market Pack/Supermarket Pack Class.

6. All trays and punnets containing exhibits MUST BE PROPERLY FILLED AS NEAR AS POSSIBLE TO THE RIM. A certain amount of overfilling will not be penalised. The Judges will be asked to take into consideration any obvious deviation from this rule. The laying in of cherries is not permitted under this rule. The laying in of any other fruit and the clipping of any acid(sour) variety cherry are permitted, otherwise no fancy packing will be allowed. NO FALSE BASKET BOTTOMS MUST BE USED.

7. Fruits in any one individual container must be of one variety only.

8. Exhibitors who so desire may have damaged specimens replaced before staging, if they send a small extra supply of each variety, with the exception of the Market Pack/Supermarket Pack Class. Two competent persons have been appointed by the Committee for this purpose.

9. All questions in connection with the identification of varieties shall be decided by the Chief Stewards.

10. THE CORRECT NAME OF EACH VARIETY OF FRUIT EXHIBITED MUST BE STATED ON THE LABEL, AND THE LABEL MUST BE CLEARLY VISIBLE ON THE CONTAINER. ON 4lb CHIPS LABELS MUST BE DISPLAYED ON HANDLE. See item 4 for Supermarket Pack labeling.

Delivery

11. All exhibits MUST be delivered to the National Cherry and Soft Fruit Show Tent, Kent Agricultural Showground, Detling, near Maidstone, by 7.00am on the morning of Friday 6th July 2018. The Committee will receive each exhibit and will be responsible for the staging. After delivery to the Committee, exhibits shall not be touched by the competitor or anyone acting on his behalf.

Indemnity

12. Neither the Committee nor any of their officers or servants shall in any way be responsible or accountable for any loss or damage, no matter from whatever cause, arising to competitors, their servants or agents, or to exhibits brought into the show.

Judging

13. Competent Judges will be appointed by the Committee. In the event of any of the Judges being unable to attend, the Committee reserve the right to substitute others.

14. No prize or trophy shall be awarded to an exhibit which does not in the opinion of the Judges possess sufficient merit.

15. Only one of the same variety in any one class to score.

16. No interference with the Judges while making their decisions will be allowed. Any such interference by a competitor or anyone acting on his behalf will disqualify his exhibit.

Protests

17. Any protest must be made in writing and delivered with a deposit of £2 to the officer in charge of the show before 3.00pm. on the first day of the show. If the objection is considered frivolous the deposit money will be forfeited. The Committee's decision shall be final.

Sale of Fruit

18. All the competitive exhibits of fruit will be disposed of as the Committee thinks fit and the proceeds thereof will be placed to the funds of the National Cherry and Soft Fruit Show.

Market/Supermarket Pack Class Cherries

19. The entry must be the normal market pack/supermarket pack of the grower. Any number of varieties may be entered but only one entry per variety. The fruit shall conform to the minimum grade requirements of the EEC regulations.

Strawberries

20. The entry must be the normal market pack/supermarket pack of the grower. Any number of varieties may be entered but only one entry per variety. The fruit shall conform to the minimum grade requirements of the EEC regulations. For Supermarket packs the name of the grower and variety to be displayed on the lid. Fruit to be displayed with the lid placed under the punnet to remove grower identification during judging.

Raspberries
